Marine 400 SC is a boat designed for trainers or judges at yachting races, it is also popular with firefighters and rescuers and can also be used for family recreation.

We tested the boat during the cup races of the Europe, Laser and Optimist classes at Velký Dářek, at the Optimist training camp of the Czech Yacht Club at Lipno in Černá v Pošumaví, at the Czech Championship of the Optimist class at Nové Mlýny and with rescuers at Rozkoš. It is a handy light boat, which is very easy to use and easy to maneuver. Its main advantages are low weight and favourable price. Because it weighs just over 100 kg, a 10 hp engine is enough for two people on board for a slippery ride.

Testing began with a more powerful 20-horsepower engine, but over the course of the year we found out that even with a 10-hp engine, sailing in the wind of no more than 10 m / s is no problem. Only at Lipno and especially at Nové Mlýny, where short sharp waves are formed, is the cruise somewhat wet. (However, the Marine 450 SC is available for these conditions and possibly short sea sailing.)

Along the perimeter of the ship just below the bort, there was installed a fender, which prevents damage to the boat itself and other ships that come to the boat. In addition, the foam was applied to the sides after the first tests. Simple cockpit equipment is quite sufficient. In addition to the steering console, the console features a waterproof storage box and a drink holder that fits well with the VHF handheld radio. A practical shelf has been mounted under the console for other things that the trainer needs to have at hand. Another box for ropes or vests is located in the middle of the cockpit and the largest one is in the bow. The gear lever is located on the right side of the boat.

The Marine 400 SC is spacious and can be easily loaded with buoys, spare sails, rudders and other things needed on the water during training or sailing races. Another advantage is handling – it can be easily put on the water and pull out of the water by any car or manually, manipulation of a trailer can be handled just one person. The price is significantly lower compared to the equally spacious inflatable boat, in the basic price without an engine it is 119 000 CZK including VAT.

It can very well serve as a boat for judges, for buoys setting, as a trainer boat on our smaller waters, in larger clubs as a second trainer boat after a large inflatable boat, which is undoubtedly needed on large waters with strong winds and waves. Thanks to the favourable price and the possibility of mounting a 10 or 15HP engine, it can sail without restriction in Nové Mlýny, Lipno and other waters, where the cruise with internal combustion engines is limited by the horsepower, it is suitable for family recreation or parents of young competitors. They can always be on the water, and they do not need to be members of the fire brigade and apply for exceptions for training or races.
